A collaboration between Microsoft and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports
Situated in a fertile green landscape of outstanding natural beauty and dedicated to the father of gods, Ancient Olympia spreads over the southwest foot of Mount Kronios.
Although secluded near the west coast of the Peloponnese, it soon became the most essential Panhellenic cultural center, where the ancient Olympic Games were held every four years during the course of Classical antiquity.
At the confluence of the Alpheios and the Kladeos rivers, our studio was commissioned to manufacture and install numerous permanent signs throughout the Ancient Olympia archaeological site.
During our fruitful collaboration with the local Ephorate of Antiquities, we were shown on-site, the appropriate locations for installing the informational signs in order to respect and match the aesthetics of the prevailing atmosphere and surroundings.
The powder coated aluminum signs serve as a visual communication for the visitors, motivating them to travel back to the Ancient Games values by downloading the “Ancient Olympia” app and bringing each of the monuments to life in 3D and AR.
